PHYSICAL TRAINING AND CONDITIONING

STRENGTH   Pinnacle's affiliation with Mission Fitness gives us a world class fitness facility with a complete array of equipment to provide sport specific strength training for our athletes.  By combining the results of the fitness testing, sport functional assessment and consultation with coaches, we develop the most accurate strengthening programs available.  These programs are individualized for each athlete, taking into account their sport, competition level, age and stage of development.

AGILITY AND REACTION TRAINING  Most sports require the ability to move quickly in response to a stimulus.  This can be jumping quickly and moving your feet fast such as a sport like soccer, of reacting with your glove hand quickly to make a save as a goalie in hockey.  Each sport is unique, so each individual program needs to be unique!

SPEED  Speed is a combination of being able to deliver a force quickly , with explosion, in a certain direction.  Or in the situation of a sport such as skiing, work with the forces aof gravity and control to achieve the best possible technique.  Often it involves skill, the correct biomechanics , and specific training.  Our team including biomechanists, and speed coaches work with our athletes to get them as fast as possible.  This also includes working with elite coaches in sports such as skiing and skating with video and other technology to understand what the individual needs to improve on to make them better at their sport!.

POWER The ability to deliver strength with velocity is power.  This is very sport specific whether you are exploding out of the start gate in a ski race, checking an opponent in hockey, or jumping to block a volleyball.  By having a team of experts and working with some of the best coaches, we understand the muscle groups that need to be strong, but more importantly explosive in a given situation. Power is only imporved with appropriate , muscle specific training with velocity.

CORE STABILITY AND CONTROL Often the missing link in the training of develpoing athletes is core stability and control.  The " core " muscles allow power and force to be delivered between the lower and upper body and is often affected by growth and development.   Functional assessment followed by appropriate sport specific core training improve the athlete's sport performance.
BALANCE Our research and experience in training developing athletes shows that often a missing link in athletic performance is balance.  Most sports require you to stand on one foot, or balance on two feet reacting to gravitational forces such as landing a jump as an aerialist in Freestyle skiing.  Balance has been shown in many studies to improve with specific training.
AEROBIC AND ANAEROBIC CONDITIONING   Through comprehensive testing, monitoring and understanding the energy systems used for each sport, we develop individualized programs to improve the athlete's performance in their sport.  The energy systems used for a marathon are completely different than the energy required for hockey or basketball, and only through a thorough understanding of exercise physiology can appropriate training programs be designed.
