Marie was born and raised in the small village Breim, between fjords and glaciers on the south west coast of Norway. In 1998, she graduated from the Firda Sports Secondary High School, where she was competitive in track and field, handball, and volleyball. After High School, she did some traveling through South East Asia and Australia before starting her Physiotherapy degree in Sydney, Australia in 2001. With a little break to do some more traveling in Europe, she transferred to the University of Gothenburg in Sweden to complete her degree. She moved to Canada in August 2005 to do her last placement at Pinnacle. Marie has played university level volleyball throughout her studies on three different continents, and is active in winter and summer sports including snowboarding, the true Norwegian telemark downhill skiing, wakeboarding, beach and indoor volleyball, hiking and camping. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy in October 2005 from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, and is planning to pursue post graduate qualifications in sports physiotherapy and acupuncture. |
